With a cannon for an arm, if he sees one of his receivers get a step on their defender, there doesn’t seem to be any place on the field he can’t get the ball to. His quickness makes him incredibly hard to bring down behind the line of scrimmage, but he still looks to throw first and saves tucking and running for a last resort. After three games, James is averaging 235 yards a game and 23 yards a completion, further highlighting that willingness to push the ball down the field with his strong arm. As his legs become more of a factor throughout the rest of the season, James’ dynamic ability mixed with his maturity as a passer could take Mater Academy East a long way in 2024.

It’s rare that a player who finished last season with one singular rushing yard would be feared for what he can do with his feet, but James is. His athleticism shines behind the line of scrimmage more than anything, and his offensive system takes full advantage of that. Frequently having him on the run, James’ arm strength really shows when he launches cross-body deep balls over the top of the defense. The different arm angles that he can naturally release from give him a great advantage when he’s moving around. Coming off a junior year where he finished with a 105.2 quarterback rating, James is a player you don’t want to miss in 2024.
