One of the more productive running backs across the state last season, the small-town back out of Jackson County deserves a giant jump in the latest rankings after a monster junior season in 2025. The max-effort, tackle-breaking back is one of the fastest backs in the area who also runs with authority. He can fly past defenders in the open field one carry and then run through two more defenders on another carry. He was tough to tackle all season long and ended his junior season with 1,888 yards and 26 touchdowns, averaging an impressive 7.8 yards per carry along the way. He ran for at least 100 yards in 10 games and scored multiple touchdowns in nine games. Now, he’ll be ranked inside the top-100 in the next 2027 rankings update.

One of the top 2027 running backs across the state, Maxwell may be flying under the radar now, but he won’t be much longer after a terrific junior season where he ran for 1,588 yards and 24 touchdowns. He’s run for multiple touchdowns in each of his last three games including a monster performance in round one where he ran for 116 yards and three touchdowns. He’s one of the more productive backs in the Athens are and a big reason why Jackson County has had such a successful 2025 season. Maxwell will need to be at his best Friday night as Jackson County takes on a really talented Milton defense.

After a strong sophomore season where he rushed for 1,200 yards, Maxwell is off to a fast start to his all-important junior season, and he’s proving that he can absolutely play at the next level. The 5-foot-9 175-pounds has rushed for 268 yards through his first three games of the season. He’s also been. major weapon in the passing game out of the backfield and in the return game on special teams. He’s one of the fastest backs in the area who can break a long any time he has the ball. He shows good burst, patience, and a slippery running style. Look for Maxwell to push for All-Region honors at the end off the season.
