Expert Analysis
Christian McAlvain | Prep Redzone Scout
McInelly was a do it all player for Sugar-Salem where he rushed for over 1800 yards and 20+ touchdowns. He has the speed and size that you are looking for in a star athlete but really what separated him from everyone else in the 4A was his high football IQ that allowed him to impact the game on both sides of the football. The 4A State Player of the Year was as complete a football player you will find in the entire state of Idaho.

The Utah Tech baseball commit has been a do it all guy this season for Sugar-Salem, and is a explosive and dynamic play-maker with the ball in his hands while extremely tough to take down in the open field. He can create downfield separation and is a true vertical threat with exceptional hands and high point abilities. He shows he can run a variety of different in breaking and out breaking routes, tracks the ball well over the top and is a complete player on both sides of the ball. He had a stellar showing in the semi-finals going for over 140 receiving yards and 3 scores against Kimberly. Sugar-Salem will play host to Homedale at Middleton high school in the 4A State Championship game.

McInelly is a two-way star for Sugar-Salem but has had a really good year at running back. He is a hard player to bring down as he runs behinds his pads and doesn’t shy away from contact. He is the back that is going to pick up those tough yards and do so falling forward.

The two-way star is one of the top linebackers in the state of Idaho, and is also having a tremendous start to his Senior season coming out of the backfield and gaining tough yards inside. Through the first five weeks of the pre-season, he has rushed for nearly 500 yards and 5 touchdowns, while averaging just over 6 yards per carry and has shown he can run physical in-between the tackles while flashing some sneaky open field speed and vision in space/cutback abilities as well. He moves well for his size and is a fluid athlete that could find his home at multiple positions at the D3 level in college.
