It was a terrific night for Cardinal Newman’s defense with a shutout of Ben Lippen on Friday, and David Rodgers led the way in an excellent showing at linebacker. Rodgers was busy all game long, making 7.5 total stops with three of them behind the line of scrimmage. He slowed down the Falcons’ rushing attack with his outstanding motor and pursuit while showing his prowess in quickly wrapping up tackles. He’s a reliable playmaker in the heart of a defense that is clicking so far in SCISA 4A.
