David Fennessy David Fennessy 5'11" | 210 lbs | LB Scott | 2025 State WV continues to have a big year at running back for the Scott Skyhawks in a new role for the senior. Ranked as a LB, Fennessy is having a great season at running back and carried the load in Scott’s revenge win over Wayne in the opening round of the playoffs. He rushed for 151 yards and totaled 5 touchdowns in the 40-12 victory on top of his usual prowess at linebacker. Scott’s David Fennessy David Fennessy 5'11" | 210 lbs | LB Scott | 2025 State WV has been a pleasant surprise on the offensive side of the ball this season for the Skyhawks as they were searching for someone to step up at running back, and he’s answered the call.
Fennessy is still getting it done on defense as well but has showcased his athletic versatility further with several 100+ yard rushing games this season. He can still drop back to safety at times which he’s done plenty of in the past but has really grown into a linebacker body over the past two years. Fennessy is still flying under the radar for colleges and is awaiting his first offer which will come any day now as a no-doubt D2 prospect in our eyes. You can plug him into a variety of roles at the next level, and his versatility should make him an intriguing prospect to colleges.

In our eyes, 2025 Scott LB David Fennessy David Fennessy 5'11" | 210 lbs | LB Scott | 2025 State WV is one of the more underrated linebackers in the state, and he deserves much more college attention heading into his senior season. He’s done a great job growing into his body and maximizing his physical ceiling who is now in the 5’11 210 range and up nearly 30 pounds since our last measurements we had for him. Fennessy is a physically impressive athlete who has worked hard in the weight room this off-season and now has the size needed to play linebacker in college on scholarship. The former safety maintained his athleticism since transitioning to linebacker and is a rangy player on the field who can cover ground and drop into coverage. Fennessy led the Skyhawks in tackles as a junior with 126 total including 14 TFLs and 4 sacks with 2 interceptions.
He should have offers from every D2 program in the state and one of the top linebackers in this class in our eyes.

Scott LB/DB David Fennessy David Fennessy 5'11" | 210 lbs | LB Scott | 2025 State WV is a very intriguing prospect that I’m high on and the only question about him is which position he’ll play at the next level. Is he a linebacker, a safety, or both? Fennessy has film of all three and may play a hybrid role in college. He led the Skyhawks in tackles and sacks this season and tied for second for TFLs. He’s a versatile athlete and warranted a Top 50 ranking and will be considered a linebacker for now in the rankings where he placed 5th for the position. Fennessy is a rangy player regardless of where he’s at on the field and is very athletic. His 5’11 190 size also reaffirms him being a bit of an LB/Safety tweener which isn’t a bad thing and gives him some options as a prospect. We’ll see how they use him next season to determine which position he’ll finish at in our rankings but Fennessy will rank highly regardless.

The best part of junior Scott linebacker David Fennessy David Fennessy 5'11" | 210 lbs | LB Scott | 2025 State WV ‘s game is his athleticism which was apparent when he slid back to safety in week 7 against previously undefeated Mingo Central. Fennessy is very quick and speedy and can play that hybrid OLB/Safety role at the next level. At 5’11 190, his size and athleticism are trending him towards that position, and watching his film at safety he can play there effectively. Fennessy is a downhill player and an aggressive tackler who isn’t shy from contact. He’s really good coming off the edge as a 3-4 OLB and can run down ball carriers from behind. Through the first five games, he has totaled 49 tackles, 7 TFLs, 3 sacks, and one forced fumble and interception a piece.
