The first of several seniors that Woodland will lean on this season is Danner Lessert Danner Lessert 5'10" | LB Woodland | 2025 OK as a defensive lineman or linebacker. When you look at the production from last season, it hasn’t really mattered where Lessert lined up on the field, he made plays at a very high level. Lessert would finish the season with 58 tackles on the year but more importantly, he had eight sacks and ended up leading the team in that category. Lessert was a breakout player for the Woodland defense during his sophomore season and he continued to provide an impact in 2023. Now, he’s a very experienced and talented player looking to go out with a championship.

Woodland 2025 standout Danner Lessert Danner Lessert 5'10" | LB Woodland | 2025 OK enjoyed a breakout season last fall. As just a sophomore, Lessert earned his way onto the field and made a major impact, specifically on the defensive side. Lessert is listed on the roster as an offensive and defensive lineman as well as a linebacker. We’re interested in what Lessert can provide on the defensive side of the ball. The Cougars bring back seven starters on defense and Lessert is looking to take his game to another level as a junior. Last fall, he finished with over 70 tackles on the season and also finished with nearly ten sacks. We think that Woodland is going to have a stingy defense when you look at what Lessert can do, combined with some of the other returning starters on that side.
