Nevil finished 3rd in the state in rushing yards with 1,820 and 25 TDs as a junior. The standout playmaker out of SLAM Academy has picked up traction on the D-II radar recently, generating his first pair of offers from Sioux Falls and Minnesota Duluth. He showed speed out of the backfield and the ability to make defenders miss at the second/third levels in his junior film. He’s stayed busy this offseason showing developing upside in his receiving skillset at a recent UNLV camp as well as 7v7 events. Look for Nevil’s D-I interests- particularly from UNLV- to potentially turn into an offer in the coming months.

SLAM is hungry to get on the field this weekend after losing to Truckee in the state championship game last year. Damien Nevil Damien Nevil 5'11" | 175 lbs | ATH SLAM Academy | 2025 State NV is set to be a huge part of SLAM’s game plan on both sides of the ball. The versatile junior attended a UNLV game last week and I would suspect his regional recruitment heats up after the postseason ends. Damien’s next level combination of strength, burst, and top speed allows him to break tackles and rip off huge gains down the sidelines at any moment. Damien’s size, power, toughness and good leverage gets displayed punishing smaller defensive backs at the second level. Awareness in zone coverage, closing speed, and athletic ability displayed intercepting the ball suggest Damien still could be recruited as a defensive back.

Nevil’s arguably the most talented and gifted playmaker in NV’s 3A class. He possesses D-I level foot speed/quickness, is extremely fluid and elusive at the second/third levels, and can hit a second gear to break away from defenders and finish explosive plays. He’s also an active defender from his SS/OLB spot that excels in zone coverage where he can utilize his natural athleticism and ability to play in space. Nevil’s a close second in total rushing yards among 3A RBs with over 1,300 yards and 21 TDs out of the backfield and 4 INTs on defense. SLAM will face the winner of (4) Virgin Valley and (5) Democracy Prep Agassi Campus in the second round.
