Holy Family Catholic is looking and playing like a real threat for the state’s Class AAA title in 2026. The Fire, who were fresh off taking Annandale to the brink in Week 5, bounced back with a big 21-7 win over Watertown-Mayer in Week 6, led by the performance by 2027 RB Damian KomtangiDamianKomtangi

Holy Family Catholic | 2027 StateMN. Komtangi, who also has personal track records such as an 11.54 100M, 23.55 200M, 17.76 110M hurdles, and 46.58 300M high hurdles PR, posted 20 carries for 195 yards and 2 TDs in the 21-7 win.
Komtangi’s Week 1-5 midseason highlights’ evaluation is below:
big-time burst and splash play speed that can take the edge and the sideline on defense
will finish runs with authority and doesn’t want to run out of bounds.
will run behind his pads
0-60 get-up from a dead start, quick, nimble, and elusive in space, strong lower body can run through arm and weaker tackles with ease
asset on screens and as a pass catcher out of the backfield
B-move out of contact
contact balance can absorb and stay upright through multiple tackle attempts in a single carry
Holy Family is 5-1, and that is in no small part to Komtangi’s efforts as a ball carrier. He had a legacy game in Week 6 against Watertown-Mayer, taking 20 carries for 195 yards and 2 TDs, averaging just shy of 10 ypc in the process. He also caught a pass for 13 yards. His Week 6 tape is electric. Komtangi runs like a bowling ball, just powering through defenders. His legs never stop moving on contact, and he can send defenders flying when he collides with them. An underrated part of his game is his ability to make quick cuts. Multiple times on his tape, he pulls off a nasty stop-and-start maneuver to cause a reckless LB to miss a tackle. Komtangi is a brutal runner between the tackles and deserves some more attention going forward.
