Daejour Pinckney already looks like a future premier pass rusher. The first step is electric, putting tackles on their heels immediately. He combines that burst with raw strength, walking blockers back into the pocket when he converts to power. What jumps out on film is how refined he is technically for his age. He uses his hands effectively, shows the beginnings of a pass rush plan, and has the flexibility to bend around the corner without losing speed. That ability to corner naturally and stay balanced is extremely rare for a sophomore and points to a very high ceiling.

Pinckney profiles perfectly as a 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level. His traits first-step quickness, leverage, bend, and developing hand use are exactly what college recruiters look for in edge players. With two and a half years left to develop he has the upside to be one of the most coveted defensive players in the state.

Standing at 6’2” 210 pounds on film he demonstrates his understanding of pass rush, having some developed moves already. Another thing that stood out to me is his relentless motor, never giving up on a play and always trying to find his way to the ball carrier. His arms are like vines which is always nice to see, he often uses his length to his advantage keeping tackles away from him in his run fits or when he’s rushing the passer. He flashes some flexibility and bend when he’s rushing the passer and more times than not he’s the guy who is earning 1on1 reps for his defense.

His ability to fire off the ball and attack offenses is special. He is one of those special athletes that also shows excellent strength. He has a great get-off, as he fires off the ball quickly. He just needs to learn the subtle skills as an edge defender and he has the chance to be an even better player.
