Matt Tate | Prep Redzone Scout
Rueschhoff has been a dominating presence at our events for the past couple of years, and this one was no different. During the drill portion, he showed off his very good balance and change of direction. During the linebacker individual portion, Rueschhoff knocked it out of the park. Showcasing his very quick and controlled feet paired with great concentration to catch the ball afterwards. He was very attentive and coachable throughout. During the competition portion, he continued to thrive. Using his very good read and reaction speed to disrupt passes and timing on routes. Very good lateral quickness staying square while watching the QB’s eyes. Rueschhoff’s competitive nature was on fire all camp paired with an excellent performance should have colleges taking notice of him.

Both verified. Rueschhoff uses his very good read and reaction speed paired with a quick twitch ability. Very good sideline to sideline range and into his zone responsibility. He has the athletic ability to cover tight ends out in space. Rueschhoff is also a disruptive blitzer. Uses his very good blitz take off speed, very good get off and block shedding to eat interior blocks up and get into the backfield. Very good tackling as well. Uses his very good strength to pull down ball carriers or lay the boom on them. High character and very coachable. Colleges would be doing themselves a disservice by not having him on their team.

Rueschhoff delivered one of the most complete linebacker performances of the event and should be firmly placing himself on college scouts radar. His testing numbers stood out, highlighting elite change of direction and explosive short area burst. Those traits consistently showed up during position drills, where he displayed next level pass rush mechanics and strong closing speed. In one on one coverage situations, Rueschhoff separated himself with fluid hips, disciplined footwork and the ability to stay connected to backs through routes. He plays with a confident tempo and shows the instincts needed to thrive at the next level. Rueschhoff checks boxes across the board, combining athleticism with football IQ and versatility. As we head for the summer, he projects as a player who should attract strong FCS attention and push into FBS conversations as exposure increases.

Rueschhoff had himself a game! He had 10 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack, and a 85-YD FF/FR touchdown throughout 3 quarters. Rueschhoff has very good athletic ability. He uses his very good acceleration to propel himself into the backfield or into this target. He has a quick twitch. On one play, he fooled the offensive line by slowing down his speed into like a walk, then snuck around them for the easy unblocked sack. On his fumble play, he went into the pile of players, ripped the ball from the RB’s hands, and returned it. He used his homerun speed ability to keep separation throughout the return. One thing about Cole that has improved this offseason is his change of direction and body movements. He has very controlled body movements, and showed off his shifty feet work while staying square. I’m consistently impressed by his ability to improve and play.

He uses his athletic ability to cover TEs out in space. His mental processing is consistently on display. Very good reactionary speed. Reads, diagnoses, and attacks. Rueschhoff puts himself in position to succeed. Very good block shedder, with very good quickness off the block and ability to disengage. Paired with his very good strength, and he’s a force on the field. I firmly believe after more people see his play, he will be getting D1 offers.

A high IQ linebacker with elite speed, Rueschhoff is a sideline to sideline defender who consistently makes plays all over the field. His ability to read and react allows him to shoot gaps and shut down the run, while his quickness off the edge makes him a legitimate pass rushing threat. With his skill set as a coverage backer, I believe that this makes him a versatile defender that is key to his teams success in pass defense. Rueschhoff finished the season with 72 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 1 fumble recovery. His strong performances at Prep Redzone camps have already turned heads, and he’ll look to carry that momentum into team camps this offseason.
