is an explosive athlete who can score anytime he touches the ball. He missed most of last season with an injury, but he returned for the playoffs and helped PCC win the WPIAL. His ability as a running back to hit the hole is impressive. He has a natural quickness and ability to make defenders miss. Then, once he gets into the open field, he is off to the races. He is even an excellent returner with his elite speed. He also has excellent vision when he runs the ball. Finally, he catches the ball at a high level out of the backfield. Black is a great athlete in the 2028 class. He projects as a Division One prospect.

- Florida State dropping its name into the Black Jr. sweepstakes is interesting on a few fronts. Before you know it, Black will be an upperclassman with ample tape to his name, despite him currently progressing through his sophomore season at PCC. By that time, we’ll be keeping a close eye on who is leading the race. Good chance Florida State is up there right now, although I am entirely out in terms of exclusive insight. Good to see his recruitment staying hot.

Black wasted no time making his mark, taking the opening kickoff 101 yards to the house. His explosive burst makes him a threat to score anytime he touches the football. Beyond the return, he added tough yards as both a runner and receiver, consistently breaking tackles. Black is already flashing as one of the premier young playmakers in the WPIAL’s 2028 class.

Chrys Black Jr is a special athlete who excelled last year as a weapon on both sides of the ball. He played as a safety, running back, and slot receiver. He was also a kick-off returner, where he excelled as well. Black is one of those legit athletes who can score anytime he touches the ball. He had a great blend of speed, athleticism, and quickness. Playing on a team that won the WPIAL for 6A last year, Black made his mark as a Freshman. I expect an even better year for the top-ranked athlete in the 2028 class.

Chrys Black is a very very special player, point blank period. While Black is more of a pure ATH by usage definition, when he’s on the defensive side of the ball Black is someone who feasts off of bad decisions by the opposing team. His free safety/nickel tape is so fun for the fact he doesn’t care about his smaller stature, he just flies around looking for a body or the ball. I get flashes of Michigan Safety Rod Moore usage wise and also by the physicality Black plays with. Black holds 5 offers per 247 Sports, including, Syracuse, Troy, Akron, UNLV, and USF, and I believe he’s worth a whole lot more.

Chrys Black is an outstanding athlete for Pittsburgh Central Catholic. He played mostly as a defensive back last year, where he showed his playmaker ability. His ability to break on the ball and intercept passes is impressive. He also made an impact as a punt returner, using his speed and athleticism to make big plays. He also played as a runner-back. As a running back, he showed a special burst and speed. Black can play anywhere on the football field and have a chance to be a special player going forward.

. The star 2028 back out of PCC was still able to show off open-field agility and production in this one despite all the mouths Strader had to feed.
I’m fully aware of the complete athlete Black is, this known after watching him live as well as one tape on several occasions. It’s nice to see him work beside equally gifted pass-catchers while still looking the part. I like the day Black had on Day Two, coming up big underneath for Strader when needed.

is an obvious name to know. Early offers out of West Virginia, Syracuse, Cal, UNLV, just to name a few. Ranked in the preseason as the second-best freshmen prospect going into the 2024 Fall season. 5’7, 162-pounds, I was able to get a quick glimpse of Black working live against North Allegheny, yet nothing too noteworthy. A lot of mouths to feed at this program, it’s a testament to his potential and current prowess that he’s even able to step onto the varsity roster, let alone carve out a role in special teams and in the run game.
Taking a look at Black’s mid-season tape, I’m validated in thinking this is a young man who will likely sit atop our rankings for years to come. The tape starts with Black showing off his skills in space, returning a punt 80+ yards for a score. Unreal acceleration skills displayed, you can see Black hit a couple different gears in the span of a 14-second rep. The open-field vision he possesses makes him a prospect who demands playmaking opportunities each game. Is one of four rushing options Central Catholic has at its disposal, Black can run out of ten personnel sets, you can count on the back to make the first man miss in the hole more times than not. Black can be split out wide to catch screens/hitches, another testament to his versatility.
What I’m most enamored with is the young man’s potential at corner and safety. I was aware of the playmaker in Black, I wasn’t under the impression that he was this far ahead in terms of DB prowess. Fantastic reps put forth against NA earlier in the year. Comfortable in two-high sets, comfortable coming down to fill the alley and deliver strikes off the edge. A much better tackler/enforcer than I previously thought. Our ranking of Black being the best two-way athlete prior to the season is holding true.

The second-ranked prospect among 2028 Pennsylvania prospects, Chrys Black is adding to his growing list of offers as Pittsburgh Central Catholic kids begin to put tape on Hudl. Temple, Bowling Green, and West Virginia have all seen enough to call the freshman’s number to provide scholarship opportunities. Expect Black to be an easy-offer candidate, a no-brainer type prospect for FBS programs recruiting PA. Akron and Syracuse offered Black before the 2024 Fall season began.
