Chris Perry put together a standout performance over the weekend, consistently making his presence felt every time he touched the ball. He found the end zone three times and added extra point conversions on Saturday, showing his value in key scoring situations. More importantly, he was a constant offensive spark, turning routine touches into impactful plays and keeping the defense on edge throughout the game.
What separated Perry was his big-play ability and the pressure he put on the defense with every opportunity. He showed the capability to break away for a big gain or score at any moment, forcing defenders to account for him on every snap. His explosiveness and playmaking instincts made him one of the most dangerous players on the field, and his performance reflected a player who can change the game in an instant.
Look at the rosters of all the 8th Grade teams in this year’s KYMSFA BOTR, I feel Region 4 was the deepest and most complete team. However, sometimes that doesn’t guarantee victory. After lighting it up and causing a running clock in its 46-6 victory over Region 3 in the opening game, they ultimately fell to Region 2 in the championship game by the final of 26-24.
The Region 4 offense had a number of talented skill position players at its disposal, specifically at the Running Back position. While many of the RBs had a similar skill set, Chris Perry separated himself a bit with his ability to reach pay dirt. The reigning KYMSFA Region 4, Division 2 Player of the Year had a rushing TD in both games for the boys in blue.
Chris Perry (McCreary County) is coming off an outstanding 8th grade season where he eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark, showcasing both his consistency and big-play ability. Named Region 4 Player of the Year, Perry carried that momentum into November at the KYMSFA All-Star Classic, where he earned Offensive MVP honors, further cementing his status as a dynamic offensive threat.
Perry brings a truly explosive element to the offense, with the ability to turn any touch into a major gain. His burst, speed, and natural running instincts make him a constant threat out of the backfield. What adds even more value to his game is his versatility, lining up both in the backfield and at receiver, where he showed great hands and the ability to make tough catches in tight windows. Chris is a high-level playmaker who impacts the game in multiple ways and brings big play potential every time he touches the ball.
