Another exciting player for the Cougars, and the senior defensive back made some highlight reel plays. He was a great cover corner but also one of the best tackling cornerbacks in this league. He played with a ton of passion and was a leader for this Cougars secondary. He also contributed on offense with some key plays at receiver. King finished with 34 tackless and 9 pass breakups throughout the season.

Another cornerback that makes a case for being one of the top lockdown defensive players on Long Island. King is a fierce competitor that lives for the big time matchups. I saw him do very well this summer against very talented receivers. King received all league honors last year and with his ball skills and footwork he can definitely earn another All League selection.

You can easily make an argument that Chris King is the top cornerback in the catholic league from Long Island this year. He has great size and he’s an aggressive corner. I liked him in press coverage as he’s not afraid to get physical. He also has the speed and change of direction to give receivers a hard time. His hands and ability to make plays on the ball have separated himself from the rest of the pact this summer. He’s always assigned the number one receiver and he’s a player that loves the pressure and he brings the intensity every time he steps out onto the field. I’m very excited to see him at receiver this year if he plays on that side of the ball.

Christopher King Jr Christopher King Jr 6'2" | 185 lbs | DB St. John the Baptist | 2024 State NY has some of the best physical traits in this class where his length at 6-2 shines on his tape. King Jr also has great burst and acceleration making him a threat in coverage to make plays on the ball. King Jr is solid in coverage but his short area burst and length allow him to make plays that other corners cannot due to his ability to close on the ball. King Jr is solid in zone coverage and diagnosing plays keeping his eyes keyed on the backfield and shows on tape he will get physical and make tackles. King Jr can work on his ability to disrupt at the LOS and getting better initial punch on WRs at the LOS. King Jr also will occasionally get caught looking in the backfield when a QB scrambles allowing receivers to trail in behind him. Overall, King Jr has really quality traits and some of the areas you want to see him improve are very coachable. One of the most intriguing prospects headed into this season.
