Brown is a bigger back who has been an occasional varsity contributor over the last two years. As the Cardinals have improved, so too have Brown’s numbers on the ground. He’s a no-nonsense, downhill runner who doesn’t create a ton of explosives, but falls forward and rarely gets dropped behind the line. His tough running has helped the Cardinals develop a solid rushing attack.

Christopher had been dealing with an injury, so he only saw limited time in the 2nd half of this game, but man, he was impactful for the Cardinals. Late in the 3rd quarter, he scored Berry’s first touchdown of the night, a run off the left side for about 25 yards, in which he broke a couple of tackles on the way to the end zone. His 2nd touchdown run came late in the 4th quarter, which cut the lead to 14-12, setting the stage for the last TD mentioned earlier. I spoke with Christopher earlier today.

I’d like to see what Brown could do in a better game-script. Too often last year, the Cardinals fell behind early and had to press, rather than riding a solid running back tandem. Brown plays both ways and provides much-needed size at both the running back and linebacker positions. I think we could see him get more consistent carries this year, which should help the offense take a step forward.
