Expert Analysis
Kelly Christian | Prep Redzone Scout
Segar’s arm was elite on the way to the Gulf Coast Athletic Canes 18U championship victory. He played with confidence and poise, knowing exactly where to go with the ball without putting it into harm’s way. His passes were rhythmic and on time in his progression, no matter where they were on the field. Segar showed that he can layer the ball, fitting his throws over defenders or between the safety and corner. His receivers rarely had to break stride, allowing them to create big plays after the catch. If the defense muddied the progression, he remained calm and reset to find an open receiver.

Segar, one of the best 2027 QB prospects in Alabama, was selected as a top performer over the weekend in Gainesville, making the trip up from Daphne. Segar has been on my radar for a while, and is starting to stand out headed into his senior season. He is an extremely productive player, earning all-state honors as a junior. He is a high velocity thrower who can tap into a high trajectory down the field. He is a D1 passer, and would be a steal if he somehow were to fall below that level.

Segar operated like one of the most polished quarterbacks in the tournament. The ball came out with real zip, especially on intermediate throws where timing and placement matter most. In the red zone, he was particularly lethal — arguably one of the best red-zone quarterbacks on Day 1.
He was decisive with his reads and rarely held the ball unnecessarily. His mechanics stayed clean and repeatable, even under condensed-field pressure. Perhaps most impressive was how he spread the wealth — keeping defenses honest by involving multiple receivers and maintaining rhythm throughout the day.

is a talented passer from Daphne who’s landed as our #6 QB and #39 overall prospect on our list after his dominant season last fall.
“Segar is a talented QB who takes care of the ball, goes through his progressions, and finds ways to move the chains every snap. Segar has some seriously impressive arm strength and can rip the ball through tight windows/lead his WRs deep downfield for huge gains.
I think what impressed me most about Segar was how well he could attack every level of the field. He throws a really nice deep ball, but can also deliver some strikes in the shorter/intermediate levels of the field to move the chains- no matter where his WRs are, you can count on Segar to get the ball there.“
Segar is one of the top QB talents in the state’s class. I’m seriously excited to see what he’ll do this upcoming season. He has a ton of talent and skill at the position.

Big, raw prospect. Long, wonky mechanics, still growing into himself. He can drive the ball, has plenty of horsepower on it. Can tap into a high trajectory. Underrated, productive, and has good ball ahead of him. Ranked by us as one of the best rising senior QBs in Alabama.

Segar has quietly developed into one of the more efficient and composed quarterbacks in his class, maintaining an impressive 70% completion rate on the season along with 2,362 yards & 33 TDs. He displays consistent ball placement on all three levels. With requisite arm strength, Segar can challenge defenses vertically with touch and trajectory or exploit intermediate windows with precision and timing.
What separates him is his ability to thrive off-script — he’s a fluid athlete who can manipulate the rush, extend plays, and stay calm under duress. Even in chaos, Segar’s mechanics hold up, allowing him to deliver accurate off-platform throws and create second-chance opportunities for his offense. His poise, command, and controlled aggression make him a field general to be aware of going forward.
