Morgan Park remains as the only Chicago Public League left in the IHSA playoffs. They won a thriller against a talented Sycamore team in the second round. Chris Durr Chris Durr 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Morgan Park | 2024 State IL did his part in helping his team advance to the quarterfinals. The Wyoming commit had 8 catches for 113 yards and a touchdown. Durr’s big play ability was on full display as they took down Sycamore 27-21. No doubt Durr will keep getting his touches this week against St Francis.

NUMBER NINE:
We got another Morgan Park Mustang making his way onto the Illinois 2024 classes Top-10 electric offensive weapons, and he also happens to be one of the top uncommitted prospects in the entire state. 5’11, 160 lb. Chris Durr Chris Durr 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Morgan Park | 2024 State IL Jr. has earned four FBS offers, a P5 offer from Louisville, and five FCS offers, and last season earned First Team All-State and First Team All-City honors after recording 51 receptions for 1,013 yards and 16 TDs in the dangerous Mustangs passing attack. Durr Jr. is a silky smooth cutter who can start/stop on a dime and leave defenders flying by and out of control like they got pushed from behind. His combination of splash play speed and effectiveness at beating opponents laterally helps him turn routine receptions into game-changing plays and impressive displays of athleticism, and he keeps fans and opposing defenses on their toes with how quickly he can turn nothing into something and break open a game with his burst, footwork, and pace. Durr Jr. also demonstrates excellent ball tracking ability and body control when playing the ball out of the air, good footwork that is very efficient at the LOS in his releases, and tons of burst. Morgan Park’s explosiveness is on another level in 2023. Good luck keeping them contained.

The Chicago Public League is stacked with skill position talent going into 2023, and the Morgan Park Mustangs are particularly packed with athletes as we approach the fall. Of the many standouts, rising senior Chris Durr Chris Durr 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Morgan Park | 2024 State IL Jr. more than holds his own, as the 5’11, 160 lber. was named First Team All-State and First Team All-City after posting 51 receptions for 1,013 yards and 16 TDs as a junior. He currently holds offers from Wyoming, Fordham, Army, UPenn, Eastern Michigan, Louisville, Illinois State, Northern Iowa, New Mexico State, and Western Illinois, and has caught attention from the media and college programs for both his 7v7 and in-season accomplishments. Durr Jr. works best out of the slot, and is shifty both at the top of the route and after the catch, balanced and generally dangerous after the catch, and tracks the ball very well in the air. His top-end speed is also noteworthy and eye-catching, and he’s a natural at beating press-man in his releases at the LOS. It’s a twitched-up, splash play skillset in an athletic and still-growing frame that, when combined with his route running ability, will be very dangerous at the next level. He’s going to be a force in Chicago this fall.

It was clear that Chris needed to be included in this article after audibly saying “WOW” to each of his first few plays on his highlights. Chris has the quick twitch in his route running that leaves DBs wondering where he went. Durr explodes out of his breaks with ease. After the catch, Chris has D1 speed and his quickness again shows up as he jukes, spins, or cuts away from DBs. Durr also showed off some physicality that you don’t expect to see from a 5’11” 160 lbs WR. Chris is a true mismatch. He will give DBs nightmares as they prepare for him all week. Get the ball in his hands and watch the fireworks go off.

Morgan Park has seen their fair share of P5 talent come through their Chicago Public League halls the last few years and have another baller on their hands in 5’10, 160 lb. 2024 ATH Chris Durr Jr. With a 4.0 GPA, Durr Jr. was named All-State and All-City after his 51 reception, 1,013 yard, and 16 TD junior campaign, and although he came into the season with offers from Western Illinois and New Mexico State, things really popped off during this current offseason. Northern Iowa, Illinois State, Louisville, Eastern Michigan, UPenn, Army, and Fordham have thrown their names in the ring since late February, and more are coming for the speedy and productive wideout, especially once he can show off his speed and body control during the summer camp grind. Twitchy as a route runner as well as after the catch, Durr Jr. has exceptional ball skills, impressive speed, and is balanced and super shifty when breaking tackles. The body control is outstanding, and allows him to pull off toe-tapping catches, beautifully executed cuts, and hard-to-track snags on throws on a variety of routes. Durr Jr. is fun to watch and another classic example of athletic playmakers out of the Windy City. I’m surprised more P5s aren’t involved right now!

2022 Stats:51 Receptions – 1013 Yards Receiving – 19.9 Yards per Reception – 92.1 Yards per Game – 16 TouchdownsrnMorgan Park’s Chris Durr Chris Durr 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Morgan Park | 2024 State IL put together an awesome 2022 season, making him another stat monster look out for. With him being one of the major force through the air last year, Chris eclipsed the 1000 yard mark with ease. With him almost averaging 20 yards per catch, Chris is a proven big play threat for defenses. Chris is a shifty route runner who had no problem getting in and out of breaks with ease. His elusive speed made it almost impossible for defenders to catch him once he broke through the last line of defense. From everything that I have seen from Chris, it is clear that he is going to be one of the biggest names to come out of Northern Illinois next season. I am expecting Chris to have another big season in 2023.
