Expert Analysis
Mark Johnson | Prep Redzone Scout
Carter quickly earned a job on the varsity team for McFarland. The freshman did really well playing with patience, allowing blocks and plays to develop. He did equally well of reading the blocks, and cutting off them to gain yards before contact. Carter has developed a solid base of power that he uses to finish plays. Between the power, patience, and vision Carter has a solid base of talent to continue to grow his role on varsity and become a big impact on the result of games.

Carter was able to get highlights from his first HS scrimmage last week, giving us a bit of an updated look at his game. The 5’10” 160 lbs back is a patient runner that will let his blocks develop then attack the hole. He is a one cut back that you won’t see dancing in the backfield or making jukes/cuts downfield. Instead he will attack the hole, and then look to break tackles and create yards after contact. The freshman RB gave us a glimpse of soft hands on a big time catch down the field on a play that showed he can move pretty well without the ball in his hands. Check out his highlights from the scrimmage below.

Projection: Watchlist in state/class
Multi-sport athlete (baseball/basketball/football) that will be off to McFarland High School in the fall. Comes with a nice frame for a 2028 prospect, but needs to increase overall speed to reach full potential. On film, he runs with purpose and has a nice stiff arm, but speed and change of direction are to areas to improve quickly.
