was one of the breakout stars in Class 5A and in the state during the 2025 season. We didn’t know anything about Vaughan coming into the season but that quickly changed. We saw Vaughan and the Cardinals in action early in the season and he immediately passed the eye test. One thing that stood out to us was the way he carried himself. He didn’t look like a sophomore that was making one of his first few starts. He looked like a veteran that had already been through the fires. And for us, that’s a scary thought because now, Vaughan comes into 2026 as a veteran with plenty of experience under his belt. He could take a huge step forward.

When you talk about passing the eye test as a QB, Vaughan does that as soon as he walks in the room. Vaughan began his varsity career in 2025, showing off his arm strength and accuracy in the deep game. Vaughan is able to push the ball down the field and force defenses to deepen, opening up the quick game underneath. Vaughan uses his height to make deadly throws over the middle of the field. Collinsville has found its guy, and he will be a player to watch in 2026.

in this offense. First off, he immediately passes the eye test from a physical standpoint so he’s going to get a lot of attention moving forward. He can make some very impressive throws and his ceiling as an overall passer is incredibly high. Vaughan is another 2028 prospect that we didn’t know anything about coming into this season but it didn’t take long to come away very impressed with his overall game and potential moving forward. Now, the Cardinals still have one of the best running backs in Class 5A and that’s where their offense shines. But Vaughan is a name to remember as we head down the stretch of the regular season. He’s debuting as a top five 2028 QB.
