Carter was the first standout of the game when the playmaker took the opening kickoff and nearly housed it. From there, the senior DB looked good on every snap I focused on him. The senior may fit best as a safety at the next level because of his strengths. Carter looked very good in zone. He read and reacted quickly, changed direction and burst suddenly, and Carter was a reliable tackler in space. Morrison also brings the range to not only cover his zone, but also go chase down a ball carrier. It was a strong night all around for the senior.

Carter was 1 INT away from leading the state last fall. The safety has shown he can make plays covering a deep zone and reading the QB, or he can drop down in the slot and play man coverage. Carter has also proven to have natural hands as his highlights show him making the pick at odd angles with the ball away from his body. Carter also has a knack for being around the ball, and when his opportunities come they usually seem to come in bunches. He had 4 picks in one game vs Monona Grove and 2 INTs against SP West. Don’t give this kid chances or he will make the offense pay.

It seems like every year DeForest has a ballhawk at DB. This year that player is the 6′ 190 lbs Carter Morrison Carter Morrison 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB DeForest | 2024 State WI . In 2022 Morrison set the single game INT record for DeForest with 4 INTs. His soft hands and comfort plucking the ball out of the air, even when he has to contort his body to get his hands on it, makes the INTs easy. Carter also flashes the range to play deep and give his defense help over the top all over the field. The ’24 trusts his eyes and reacts quickly. He balled out at the UW- River Falls camp early in May and turned it into his first roster offer. Keep an eye on the DeForest prospect.
