Despite being listed at 5’9″ 150lbs, Carlos Minaya Carlos Minaya 5'9" | 150 lbs | ATH St. Mary | 2027 State NJ is one tough cookie. Typically lining off on the edge, Minaya does a great job of covering tight end types into the flat and also can carry them upfield as well. At the line, where I was most impressed with him, he uses his hands surprisingly well, either hand fighting when pass rushing or getting hands on the man in front of him; despite his size, he holds up at the line of scrimmage well. Athletic enough to play cornerback, Minaya has sound reaction times and can undercut pass attempts to break them up. Atypical from many high school prospects I watch, the 2027 graduate appears comfortable playing in space and has faith in his leverage/fits when doing so. As if being asked to do all this was not enough, Minaya is a receiver on offense who runs slants very well and has good upper body fakes to get open. The final word on Minaya is this: he is a gritty player who understands the game and does a number of unrelated things, due to positions, well on the field.
