Expert Analysis

Calvin has drawn my eye early in his career. He has a strong, athletic build with great instincts. He’s not completely polished yet, but he fires off with reckless abandon, and is able to blow plays up in the backfield early and often. I absolutely love the way he sheds blockers and is able to bend around them if they get their hands on him. As he continues to fill out this frame and hone his technical skill, Calvin could become a hot prospect in no time.

Rossman is an extremely intriguing prospect. Decent height, great strength, and a motor that doesn’t stop. He’s strong enough to consistently push the pocket on bull rushes. Against the run, he’s able to anchor himself in place nicely. Additionally, he has an effective swim move when rushing the passer.
This is an extremely high-effort player who’s been doing great things since he first walked into Coopersville. Calvin has several great traits, and I’m looking forward to Calvin improving upon things like his speed and bend.

It looks like Calvin’s game has improved this season, just as I expected.
At 0:28, Calvin doesn’t quite earn the sack, but he explodes out of his stance, and easily gets around the OT with a swim move. Then, at 0:39, Calvin lays a good hit on the tackle before sidestepping him and flattening the QB. Then, plays like 4:53 demonstrate great anchor and power, refusing to be moved and earning the inside stop.
GREAT 6-week tape from Calvin. A long highlight tape, but a super quality highlight tape. Zero fluff here. The only thing I’d nitpick is Calvin’s bend. Great getoff, great power, and consistently great effort. I’m more confident than ever that Calvin can develop into a Division 1 DT.

Another player who is ranked because of his extremely productive freshman season, but his upside is very up in the air.
I really like Calvin as a high school EDGE. He flies past offensive linemen, has good bend, and gets to the QB extremely fast. Even if he doesn’t win with his initial move, Calvin does a great job of hand-fighting and eventually shedding the block. Finally, Calvin does a good job of anchoring himself when defending the run. He rarely gets moved.
Calvin is still raw in several areas, and his height is a major problem for his recruitment. At 6’1″, he’s not going to get little to no D1 or D2 attention at EDGE. If he doesn’t grow at least 3 inches, Calvin’s defensive upside likely lies at linebacker or DT. If “going D1” isn’t a top priority, Calvin can easily deep destroying offenses as a high school EDGE rusher. Excited to see how Calvin ends up developing.
