About Calilin
Expert Analysis
Mike Bey | Prep Redzone Scout
Calilin had an awesome Sophomore season in 2023 where he rushed for 1120 yds and scored 8 TD. His very good play helped the Northmont Thunderbolts to a 6-win season where they advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs and averaged 27.25 points per game. He exhibits very good lateral quickness and agility as he gets to the outside and turns the corner. Once in the secondary, he uses his excellent play speed to outrun all defenders and score on a long touchdown run. When running inside, he shows elite contact balance as he breaks tackles from LB with ease and runs with power dragging LB and DB as he picks up a first down.

I first saw Grant in a scrimmage in the preseason and loved what I saw. The film he’s put together this season has been fantastic. He’s as well rounded a running back as you’ll see for a sophomore. Calilin is the second leading rusher in the GWOC conference. He has good vision and is a decisive runner. He hits the hole hard and has the ability to make quick jump cuts. The power and contact balance he runs with makes him extremely tough to take down. Even as a sophomore he’s already a guy teams have to gang tackle. He’s a very capable pass catcher and is used frequently in the screen game. He’s a violent blocker in pass protection, with the power to stalemate blitzers and take on larger defensive linemen. Talking to one of his coaches he has a good understanding of what they’re trying to do in both the zone and gap run schemes. He’s a player that I expect to get Power 5 attention in the very near future.
