Sticking with that aforementioned Lee’s Summit North 2027 graduating class, who the University of Central Florida hit up in noteworthy fashion this past month. Another stud freshman to grab offer #1 from the Knights is RB/DB Bryce Thompson, a 5’8, 180 lber. who earned varsity carries in 2023 and has hundreds more set in his future prep football career with the Broncos. , who also earned an offer from UCF in April, Thompson has limited film from his freshman campaign, but against non-varsity opponents, he displayed dominant speed at the non-varsity level, good vision that sees and anticipates the cutback as well as utilizes space effectively overall, balance, and some elusiveness in the open field. Thompson has a good track background that should also be mentioned, and he looks and plays like a good athlete who is comfortable and effective with the ball in his hands. Now, he’s gotta prove it against varsity defenses.

The fertile high school football grounds of the Lee’s Summit school district is always represented in the top tiers of Missouri prep football prospects, and likewise show up in force in this early sneak peek of the Great State of Missouri’s budding 2027 class. Lee’s Summit North first-year RB Bryce Thompson has been putting in work for both the freshman and JV teams of the Broncos and has shown off burst, the speed to get to the sideline or back across the grain on a defense, and a shifty running style that helps him see, set up, and blast through cutback lanes as well as leave would-be tacklers grasping for air. It’s a promising and productive skillset that Thompson can build on this offseason while working towards varsity reps as a sophomore next fall. PRzMO likes watching him run, that much I can promise.

Already holding a place on the 2027 PRZ Next National Watchlist, Thompson went out and confirmed with testing numbers what we already know–he’s a fast, talented player. The future Lee’s Summit North student-athlete put on a show during testing. Thompson finished with the second best 40-yard dash time amongst 2027 prospects with a 4.9. He also finished with the best, or tied for the best, in the 10-yard split (1.6) and shuttle (4.2). The Bronco-to-be also had top 10 finishes in the broad jump (98), vertical (28.2) and L-Cone with a 7.44.

Bryce is a speedy running back coming out of the Show Me State. As a two-sport athlete, Bryce is a kid who excels on the football field and within the eight lanes on the track. With him being as explosive as he is, Bryce has the ability to pop off a big gainer from anywhere, at any time, on the football field. Given his speed, the back has no problem breaking away from the pack when he has the ball in his hands. He runs for a forward lean to him, which helps him dart through defenses without breaking stride. As noted before, he has run the the 100M, 200M and 400M events. With the best posted time (that I’ve seen) being a 11.77 in the 100M at an AAU Regional qualifier last year. There’s no substitute for speed, and Bryce shows that on nearly ever play.
