Frequent visitors to the rankings and articles over the past year know that I am a big fan of the Wausau West OT. The 6’5″ 290 lbs senior is just barely tapping into his potential, and he has only played the position for two seasons. There is no arguing with the natural traits and gifts that he has shown on tape since starting on the OL. The run game is where the young man shines. Brandt gets to show off his special movement skills. The type of range that allows him to quickly and easily get to the second level to wall off LBs. Rice’s heavy hands and powerful lower body allow him to generate a lot of force and push in the trenches. He also plays with that nasty demeanor needed to dominate in the trenches and will finish opponents to the ground very chance. Lastly, Brandt is very good when pulling. He can get across the formation quickly, and can clear out a gap or lead through to land a second level block. Looking at his ovearll strengths, I believe his best home is at guard at the next level. I believe his next level home will also be at the D1 level.

The 6’5″ 290 lbs RT is our highest ranked uncommitted senior in WI. The big man hold 15+ offers, and he has strong interest from the FBS levels. If you have followed my articles you know about Rice’s physical growth over the years has been well published. I couldn’t’ wait to see the big man throw people around, and I wasn’t disappointed. Rice has the hands of a heavy weight boxer. His punches stopped DL in their tracks. His wide, powerful base allowed him to walk big opponents out of the trenches or straight into the ground. After getting a close look, I do believe Rice will be best at guard at the next level where his strength can shine. Future is very bright for the big man. Any D1 school looking for trench help, you must start here.

Rise: 14 up to 5rnThe growth displayed by Brandt over the past year has been insane. He played at 255 lbs in 2021, and will hit the gridiron in the 285-290 lbs range. That size packed on to a 6’5″ frame looks clean, and like there is room for more. The best part of that massive size jump is that his 2022 scrimmage highlights proves that he hasn’t lost a step in his athleticism. He springs out of his stance and uses his heavy hands and overall power to throw the DL around. Coming into the update,I was already a huge Brandt fan because of his elite skill set, and raw potential. As he continues to develop his nuanced skills for the position there is no limit to where he can climb to on the rankings.
