About Bralen

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Bralen’s gameplay style can best be described as a physical and aggressive DB who doesn’t mind staying in the box to support the run and can still make plays in the secondary when needed. Bralen is a great communicator and general for the Wildcats secondary, making sure they are always in the correct coverages and position to defend the other team.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Bralen’s mentality is simple, he wants to dominate and be the most physical person on the field. He doesn’t believe anyone can block him or catch a pass in his zone or on him in general. He wants to make sure whenever they play against him, they remember who #12 was.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Bralen is also a member of Charter School of New Castle basketball team as well he has maintained honor roll every marking period of middle school. Last year he was also voted 7th grade Homecoming King. Bralen also plays on the SMM (Strong Mature Minds) AAU basketball team.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

The biggest skill Bralen has learned is patience. After suffering a knee injury last season he’s had to go through PT and strengthening exercises to get back on the field. It has not been easy but he’s staying the course and getting better every day.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Biggest challenge is rebounding from a torn ACL last season. Getting hurt on the last play of the season last year was crushing, but it allowed Bralen to reflect and become a better student of the game. Now Bralen relies on his brain and knowledge just as much as his athleticism to be a factor on the field.

What type of college are you looking for?

Bralen is looking to attend Clemson University and run down that hill! If that doesn’t happen, I want to attend a college that can help me be a positive influence to my community as well as afford me the opportunity to be an impact football player and overall successful man. Regardless I want to make my mother and father proud and my older brother.

Everyone loves a good comeback story, and in The Diamond State there aren’t many comeback stories better than that of Bralen Matthews. Matthews is a rising star, but after going down with an ACL tear last year, there was no guarantee he would return to 100%.
