is downright mean and nasty on the offensive line when he wants to be. I agree with Layton’s assessment of him, while he may get ignored by the D1 schools, whatever D2 program that lands him will have a steal. Baker is 6’3 and 280 lbs. of pure athleticism, I would love to see him in the PSAC next fall. Sounds like he has been dominating defensive lineman since his freshmen year for James Monroe high school, time for him to take it to the next level. I hope to see him their, it will be fun to watch him during the 1v1 portion.

continues to be one of the most underrated players in the state and is still waiting on his first scholarship offer this calendar year according to his X account.
He may get overlooked at the small school level, but Baker has been impressive since his freshman year and has only gotten better over the years. Baker is a dominant run blocker with strong hands and consistently drives defenders off the ball. He has the athleticism to play left tackle in high school but likely projects to guard in college where he has a very high ceiling for that position. Baker has D1 potential in our eyes and will be a steal at the D2 level if he ends up there with potential to be a “franchise” player in college.

There may not be a more underrated prospect in the 2025 class than James Monroe OL

. Small school players oftentimes fall through the cracks with worries of competition level and lack of a big stage to display their talents, but that’s not the case for PRZ WV. We made the decision to rank him as a Top 5 OL in the 2025 class and went out on a limb portraying him as one of the best big men in the state as a small school lineman. Baker’s junior tape was just too good to not have him among the state’s best and received a D1 grade from us. He’s been a regular visitor on D1 college campuses so the interest from those programs at that level is there and should lead to future offers in time. Baker is a two-way lineman for the Mavericks who has been just as productive on the defensive side of the ball during his high school career, but his ceiling as an offensive guard is very high. He’s a very strong and physical athlete with a basketball background that aids his athleticism and footwork to develop him into a well-rounded OL prospect.
His patience should pay off during his senior year or possibly even before it with a reward of D1 opportunities.

isn’t new to our state rankings but is new to the offensive side after being moved from DL to OL in the rankings. Baker moved up 55 spots in the state ranking to 13th overall and is now considered the #2 offensive lineman in the class. He’s a high-quality player on both sides of the trenches but Baker’s ceiling on the offensive line is very high. While he may not be facing the stiffest of competition at the small school level, his technique and fundamentals translate to any level of football. Baker plays tackle in high school but will assuredly slide inside in college. Without putting too much pressure or expectations on him, I think there are a lot of similarities between his and former Fairmont Senior/WVU standout Zach Frazier’s game which is very high praise. We firmly consider him a D1 prospect now and he could see himself in the Top 10 of the rankings in the future.

has quickly emerged as one of Class A’s top linemen this season. The 6’3 280 big man made our 2025 rankings as a defensive lineman but Baker has been great on both sides of the line this season. Admittedly, Class A doesn’t have a plethora of linemen talent but that shouldn’t take away from Baker’s exceptional play thus far. He could play on either side of the line at the next level but his play on the offensive side of the ball should be noted as well. Baker is flat-out dominant in the trenches and often overmatches opposing defenders. He has shown the versatility to play left and right tackle and also plays with great leverage and physicality. Baker gets great push and often blows defenders off the ball and drives them 3-5 yards down the field. He hands out numerous pancakes each game and the scary thing is he’s still just a junior.
