Pennington was one of the top freshman tacklers in the state last season, then got bigger, stronger, and faster in the offseason. His sophomore stats are similar, but the film is on another level. He’s a heat-seeking missile when he locks on to a ball-carrier, and he can get downhill to make plays in a hurry. Any time we have a guy showing plenty of tackles on a stat sheet, we have to verify on film. Somehow, the film is better. Given his level of competition, we have to project a bit, but we love what we’ve seen from the North Moore star.

Pennington has great size and production, standing at over 6′ and 200 pounds, with over 100 tackles as a freshman. He’s excellent at diagnosing plays, which is a large part of the reason he always seems to end up around the ball. He’s a guy we’re watching closely this offseason and going forward.

Blake Pennington Blake Pennington 6'2" | 205 lbs | LB North Moore | 2028 State NC ‘s freshman production was off the charts, as he racked up over 110 tackles for North Moore in the fall. His size and athleticism aren’t bad either, making him a candidate to move up our rankings with a strong offseason. He flies to the ball and always seems to be in the right position to make a play.
