Prepredzonemn ranking 182/Ranked #7 in the 189A weight class by The Guillotine
While he can stretch the field with his arm, McMullen looks like a linebacker playing quarterback. He is a physical runner with good speed. He punishes defenders with his physical style of play. Looking to get on the board at State this season, McMullen advanced to the state wrestling tournament two years ago but failed to win a match.

was a recruiting darling of the 2024 state semifinal round of action at U.S. Bank Stadium, coming to our attention for the first time in the Thunderbirds’ tight semifinal loss to Springfield High School. A 6’4, 205 lber. bruiser of a quarterback & ball carrier, McMullen was a load and a half to try and tackle for the Tiger’s defense, and he could move the chains with either his arm or his legs while showing some playmaking athleticism at his size. Despite the loss, McMullen definitely made an impression, and in his junior campaign, he totaled 32 completions on 64 attempts (50%) for 500 yards and 10 TDs to 4 INTs, as well as 390 rushing yards and 11 more TDs on the ground, not to mention 9 tackles, a TFL, and a FF, according to MNFootballHub. However, things get tricky in his evaluation as the XL QB has no film, so it was really hard to get a proper ranking finalized without any context besides the state semifinal showing. Without reaching too far out on a limb, I kind of like the player comparison of McMullen to 2025 Hawley QB

, a quarterback with similar size, albeit a bit better of an arm, who will go on to play TE for the NDSU Bison. That small school utility, size, and dynamic athleticism as a ball carrier, not to mention toughness, could project well to a couple different positions at the next level. Hope this kid camps at UND and/or NDSU this summer!
