He has a few Division I offers that have been reported, but I believe the only reason he doesn’t have more at the P4 level is his size. With his speed, quickness, acceleration, strong leg drive, and ability to wiggle and make people miss in space, schools may be missing out on a playmaker. Seeing him make tough runs against one of the nation’s toughest defenses this past Saturday convinced me.

Cobb scored the first points for The St. James when he took the option pitch to the right and ran in from the 5-yard line late in the second quarter. Earlier in that drive, he gained short yardage on multiple carries. In the third quarter, he broke outside for roughly 20 yards after the offense entered St. Frances territory. While his total touches were modest, they included the team’s first touchdown and a chunk run that helped set up another score. Cobb’s speed and quickness stood out against an ultra-talented defense.

Aveon Cobb Aveon Cobb 5'8" | 165 lbs | RB/WR Saint James Academy | 2027 State VA is a next-level athlete due to how much grit and passion he plays with. This young man has elite breakaway speed and is very twitched up. There is a reason He is ranked the #1 running back. As I viewed his film, there were numerous times he was getting hit but kept his balance and displayed amazing concentration. There aren’t many running backs who can maintain their speed in and out of cuts without draining their stamina, as he can change direction. In and out, his cuts are made at a high rate of speed, which is very amazing, and anybody coming his way should know they are getting a true dog at the running back position. Aveon, going into his final season, will be magnificent and will do amazing things this season and at the next level. Very thrilled to see what he has in store as he continues his football journey.

The top ranked back in this group is St James Academy Aveon Cobb Aveon Cobb 5'8" | 165 lbs | RB/WR Saint James Academy | 2027 State VA , coming off 13 touchdowns and over 1,000 yards rushing for the Strivers last fall. Cobb was Coach Overton’s lead back in their inagural season and as he looks poised to be playing on Saturdays very soon. Such a quick back who makes plays catching the football out of the backfield too, he helped them win the Good Counsel matchup with his impressive footwork.

Aveon Cobb Aveon Cobb 5'8" | 165 lbs | RB/WR Saint James Academy | 2027 State VA transferred in from Riverdale Baptist and it didnt take him long to get on our radar with his 32nd overall ranking with the 2027 class. Cobb is dangerous with the ball in his hands another game changer at Carter’s disposal. It will be interesting to see how Coach Overton uses him on offense, he gashed his former Hayfield squad a few times last fall.

Transferring to St. James Academy, Aveon is a name you will want to remember. An elusive running back with speed, he is an offensive playmaker who can be used in multiple ways on the field. He displays very good vision and creative ability in the backfield, with quick reaction to penetration and the elusiveness and speed to avoid a loss. Very good short-area quickness allows him to force missed tackles at the second level, and he has the speed to outrun most he will face on a high school field. While on the smaller side in size, he keeps his legs moving and does a good job at keeping his momentum moving forward through contact when defenders wrap him up. Currently holds an offer from Delaware St.
