The term “underrated” gets thrown around a lot and we try to avoid using it all the time. However, it’s possible that senior linebacker Austin Melson Austin Melson 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Bethel | 2025 State OK is the most underrated linebacker in the state. Melson has been starting for the Wildcats since his freshman season and all he’s done is become a tackling machine. He had over 100 tackles as a freshman and did it again in 2022 as a sophomore. Melson would then lead the team with nearly 140 tackles last season. Needless to say, the Wildcats will lean on that production and leadership as they make big changes to their defense.
