Athan is undoubtedly one of the top quarterbacks in the state, and his statistics prove it. He’s ranked top 5 in the state in both passing yards (1,228 yards) and passing touchdowns (14) after just four games. His return to South Salem after a year at Sprague seems to have been a wise decision for him and his future. While I was impressed with his junior season tape, his senior season has far exceeded my expectations. Athan is a quarterback who appears comfortable making any throw on the field, and with talented wide receivers like Eli Johnson Eli Johnson 6'4" | 200 lbs | WR South Salem | 2024 State OR and Esteban Mendez Esteban Mendez 5'5" | 145 lbs | ATH South Salem | 2024 State OR on his team, his performance is elevated even further. He has decent size and a great arm, and I expect his recruitment to pick up significantly after his impressive start to the season.
