If you follow offseason gym work closely you won’t be surprised by that. Wisconsin Rapids has had some impressive weight lifters on their team this past fall. Fischer being one of them. Being a safety, Ashton came in and had to face a lot of new experiences. From drill work where they focused on footwork for man coverage to actually playing man coverage in the one on one battles. In the drills I got my first look at the junior. It was good to see him start to pick it up quickly and show that he has quick feet. During the live battles, Ashton played to his physical side and would redirect receivers to throw off timing. He also was able to rely on his stand out athleticism to run downfield with receivers. Fischer will be switched to DB in the rankings going forward. Make sure you have him on your radars. Big year incoming in 2024.

Stats: 10 Tackles, 3 PBUs, 3 PATs, Game Winning FGrnWe have Ashton listed at RB currently, but we will be switching him to safety during our next update after the season. The 6’1″ athlete fits well in that position, as well as being a clutch and reliable kicker. The junior safety can act as an extra LB when he aligns near the box to stop the run. Ashton does a solid job of avoiding blocks and all the trash between the tackles to get to the ball carrier. He can also play back at the traditional safety spot where he can read and diagnose plays. Fischer does a solid job of that. The next step in his development is to become more aggressive, trust what he reads, and don’t hesitate. The three level player also has evidence of being effective in coverage. His timing is sharp when going in to break up passes. The Rapids safety has the mental and physical traits. I’m excited for his development over the net year.
