is a strong tailback prospect with good size, burst and natural athleticism.
He has a strong frame at 5-foot-11 and over 200 pounds and he utilizes it to be a bruising presence between the tackles and when matched up with defensive backs in the open field.
He has excellent burst downhill with good straight-line speed that will give him a lot of potential as a one-cut or wide zone rusher that can get upfield quickly.
He has the vision and the ability to get skinny between blocks to be a consistent force between the tackles and wear down defenses. Additionally, he can make the first defender miss with a cut and keep stacking positive rushes.
Some pass-catching upside could be there, especially in the dump off game. With his frame, he should eventually grow into a strong pass protector — assertiveness will not be a problem as a blocker as he is also a productive linebacker at the high school level.

The Chargers are having to replace multiple big time pass catchers from last year’s 3A title team, so I think this West Tennessee ball carrier will become an offensive focal point early for Westview while his teammates get acclimated. I could see the Chargers leaning on Barnes early to establish the run game then continue to use him heavily throughout the year. He is an excellent pass catcher as well that might see a few more balls thrown his way this Fall as well. I’m interested to see how much importance the Westview staff puts on Barnes this year and leans on him to become the main offensive producer behind their quarterback. If the Prep Redzone Tennessee 2nd ranked running back has a big year, competing for Mr. Football is highly possible.

is a strong running back prospect with excellent size, initial burst and one-cut ability, resulting in a complete skillset for a big tailback.
When he finds a rushing lane, he breaks hard downhill and with his solid hips that allow for him to be an effective cutter, he has been a touchdown machine at the high school level.
He is tough to bring down with his frame and athleticism, consistently putting his offense ahead of the chains, something that can translate to the next level of the sport.
He has also shown the ability to impact the game as a receiver in the dump-off game, where he utilizes his run after contact ability.
He plays both ways for his school, putting forth a strong linebacker season as well bringing the assertive physicality to the other side of the ball.
