put together one of the most complete dual-threat performances of Round 3, powering West Craven with his arm, legs, and veteran leadership. The senior went 9-of-15 for 145 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air, then added 17 carries for 73 yards and 2 more scores on the ground—finishing with 4 total touchdowns. In a high-stakes playoff setting, he showed exactly why he’s the heartbeat of the West Craven offense.

Davis completely took control of Round 2, delivering one of the most efficient and explosive quarterback performances anywhere in the 252. The junior was nearly flawless through the air, completing 10 of 13 passes for 266 yards and five touchdowns, spreading the ball around and attacking every level of the defense. His poise in the pocket, quick decision-making, and deep-ball accuracy kept West Craven’s offense rolling from the opening kickoff. When the moment got big, Davis got even better — a true takeover performance from a rising star.

is a straight-up playmaker! It’s not every day you see someone dominating on both sides of the ball like he is for West Craven. Playing both DB and QB is already impressive, but to be putting up over 300 total yards and 3 touchdowns in a game while holding down that defensive role? That’s next-level versatility.
As a quarterback, Davis clearly has the ability to lead his offense efficiently, using both his arm and his legs to create big plays. But what really stands out is his role on defense. Playing DB, he’s likely making those key stops and creating turnovers, all while keeping his offensive production high. His two-way ability means he can influence the game in multiple ways, and that’s something a lot of teams struggle to deal with.
West Craven’s undefeated record is no surprise with a player like Davis leading the charge. He’s a true X-factor, and his ability to impact the game in so many ways makes him invaluable. You can’t sleep on him at any point during the game, because he can switch from stopping a key drive as a DB to driving down the field for a TD as a QB.

A true dual-threat quarterback, Davis had 26 passing and 14 rushing touchdowns as a junior. He generates easy power on his throws and can push the ball down the field with little effort. He contributed on defense last year as well, picking off a pass and his 4.6 speed really translates on film.

DJ Davis Named Top Defensive Back at Carolina Coaches Combine
DJ Davis, the dynamic athlete from West Craven High School, took home Top Defensive Back honors at the Carolina Coaches Combine in Princeton, NC. While he’s the starting quarterback for his high school team, Davis chose to compete at defensive back during the combine—and absolutely stole the show.
He was locked in all day, recording multiple pass breakups during 1-on-1s and never surrendered a single catch. With sticky coverage, great instincts, and fluid movement, Davis proved he has high-level potential on the defensive side of the ball. His performance strongly suggests his future is at DB at the next level.

Davis is — above all else — a playmaker. One of the most electric runners from the quarterback position in the state, he’s a homerun threat every time he touches the ball. He’s continuing to develop as a passer, but does a great job of keeping his eyes downfield and picking out the open receiver. He doesn’t throw a huge variety of routes, but the throws he does make are accurate and there’s little question about his arm strength. He throws a really accurate deep ball and has the talent to develop into a really good college quarterback.
