Amari Sumner is an unbelievable player with a lot of talent. Amari is a two way player who came out and represented North Carolina at the Duel in the DMV 7v7 Tournament. This kid is a very twitchy athlete once he gets the ball it’s like an automatic 1st down or touchdown and he’s so quick in and out of his breaks he’s very polished. Amari is very good on making players miss him by how unbelievable he is after the catch and has a second gear type of speed. Amari has tremendous ball skills at the wide receiver position that translates to the other side of the ball on defensive as a defensive back. Very good on making plays and also coming down with the ball. Definitely a kid I can’t wait to see excel and grow further down the line very special athlete in the class of 2029.

is a special athlete. He had some of the best speed I saw at the 7 on 7 tournament. He is such a fast and twitchy athlete. On offense, he is an excellent player after he catches the ball. He has good quickness and burst that make him tough to defend. He also has excellent ball skills as he catches the ball well all over the field. Then, as a defensive back, he has good coverage ability. Plus, if the ball is thrown near him, he is excellent at making plays on the ball. Sumner has college potential as a player, as he is a good athlete in the 2029 class.

Sumner is absolutely electric with the ball in his hands and plays with the confidence you’re usually more likely to see in an upperclassman. He brings energy and big-play potential to the West Craven offense, giving the Eagles a gadget guy who excels after the catch. Perhaps most impressive, he’s been great on the rare occasions he’s been asked to go over the middle. Another year in the weight room and he’s going to be one of the most dangerous guys in the state with the ball in his hands.

Sumner hasn’t yet broken out on a deep West Craven team, but he should get some extended varsity run by the end of the season. The “Fancy Feet” nickname is well deserved, as he’s one of the fastest players in the class and should only get more effective after the catch as he gets bigger and stronger. He plays multiple positions, but he’s a receiver to us, as it’s hard to imagine playing him and not trying to put the ball in his hands in space.

is a pure athlete who causes a lot of concern when lining up at receiver. He’s quick and elusive in space. Quarterbacks can afford to throw to a window because Amari has the acceleration to get where the ball is going to end up. His ball skills are high-level, and his body control when making plays is undeniable. He is also impressive after the catch, using his moves and speed to break away.
