An excellent senior campaign for Bishop Ireton’s Amari Amari VA James is really paying off as he just picked up his first Division 1 offer from Saint Francis! A dominant edge rusher/hybrid linebacker James can do mulitple things for your defense. He had 14.5 sacks this fall and if he bulks up a bit I could see him playing defensive end at the next level. Should be fun to watch how his recruiting picks up, he is 6’3 and 205 lbs., looking more and more like a cant miss product.

My colleague Carl wrote that he may be the fastest of our top LBs in the Class of ’25, and he has shown that so far this season. An EDGE player, he has a powerful first step out of his two-point stance, keeps his eyes up reading the ball and reacts to the play. He pass rushes with speed, spin move, and power with very good pass rush finish on the QB. Shows good lateral movement to contain the edge against the run, and is a very good tackler.

Rounding out our top 5 linebackers for 2025 is Bishop Ireton’s Amari Amari VA James. The 104th ranked overall prospect Amari Amari VA James may be the fastest in his position group, clocking in a 4.57 40. Defensively he is good in many roles from rushing the passer to getting out in coverage and nabbing interceptions. Very impressed with his range and speed, he has all of the makings of a Power 5 linebacker.

Numerous camp and JD invites, kid is clearly on programs’ radars. Ranked him just outside of the top 100, yet inside the top five at his position. Many of the best OLBs in the state are ranked at “ATH” so that might skew his positional rank a bit, but rest assured, there aren’t 10-15 backers in the state who show off better tape. , on the cusp of standing at 6’3, boasts a seven-minute tape on Hudl. LOS/EDGE skills are displayed immediately, stationing at OLB and running through a TE and back that were supposed to block him. Twitch and speed are calling cards, this is a natural athlete who can hunt and pursue as if he knows the offenses play call. Can be asked to play inside, is witnessed covering the deep middle. Has a great feel for zone runs when aligned strong-side. Breaches the OL unit after comboing lateral and downhill agility, James is a fantastic finisher at the BC I might add. I provided an FCS grade, here’s to hoping the young man tests well at the camps he attends this spring/summer.
