Adam Gomez Jr.
Adam Gomez Jr.
About Adam
Expert Analysis

Gomez Jr. plays with a violent, finish-oriented mentality that stands out immediately on tape. Adam is more explosive out of his stance; he consistently wins the initial contact battle and creates immediate displacement in the run game. Better hand placement – Inside hands, thumbs up, and pads inside the breastplate. Adam is more physical – Plays with a nasty edge. He seeks out contact, delivers a strike, and drives through the whistle. Improved speed to edge & second level – Excellent lateral quickness when pulling; he gets out in front of perimeter runs and climbs to linebackers with urgency and accuracy. Finishes blocks better – This is the biggest separator on film. He does not just engage — he drives the defender into the ground and sustains through the echo of the whistle, creating cutback lanes and finishing run plays. First-step quickness has gone from average to above-average; he is now one of the first linemen off the ball on the entire front.
Base and balance improved noticeably; he is no longer getting caught on his heels or over-extending. Physicality and pad level jumped a full level — he now plays with a low, violent pad level and finishes through contact instead of just occupying space. Pull-and-climb speed to the edge and second level is markedly faster; he reaches linebackers in space with better angles and sustained momentum. Block completion rate is the most visible growth area — in the prior season he would sometimes coast after initial contact; this season he finishes almost every rep with authority. Adam Gomez Jr. is a rising interior offensive lineman who has transformed his game in one year. The quicker first step, refined hand usage, stronger base, increased physicality, faster pull speed, and dominant finishing ability make him a priority target for any program that values mauling, zone-scheme guards who can also pull and finish in space.
Although much improved, He still needs to improve with his base and technique. He depends too much on his strength at times, and sometimes gets caught leaning. If he can develop this, along with this posture and finishing, he can take his game to another level. I recommend he gets with a good technique trainer to help with these areas. He depends too much on physicality and needs to improve more with his feet, hips and hands. If he can improve this, it will create more separation from the pack.

Gomez flashed intriguing athletic traits that could translate well to the next level. His first step off the snap allows him to fire out low and engage defenders with urgency, which was evident in multiple reps where he gained leverage early. This pairs well with his ability to get hands on defenders quickly, using active, violent hand placement to control and steer opponents. In run drills, he performed at a higher level, showing good pad level. During competition periods, Gomez won a few reps outright, including a couple of blocks where his base strength and balance shone through against similarly sized peers.
Overall, his physicality and motor suggest he’s a prospect who thrives in physical, downhill blocking scenarios. While Gomez’s run-game prowess stood out, his pass protection needs polishing to handle more athletic edge rushers or interior twists. The most notable area for improvement is his kick step, which lacked the depth and quickness needed for consistent mirroring in pass sets. This led to occasional overextension, where he struggled to recover against speed-to-power moves, allowing defenders to gain inside leverage. At his current size, he can hold up against bull rushes due to his anchor, but without refining his footwork, he risks being exposed in drop-back situations. In competitive reps, this limitation showed up in losses where quicker opponents slipped past his initial punch.
