Expert Analysis
Sam Erman | Prep Redzone Scout
Edwards is a high-motor type of player who has been ultra productive player who still continues to improve each week. He’s developed his frame over the past 2 years, which has really helped him in the trenches. He moved from the 2nd level to the line last year and didn’t miss a beat. While he still has the range of an LB, he’s just best near the LOS. He’s strong, can force fumbles, and holds his lanes well. He is a run stuffer who clogs gaps and helps elevate others around him. Year 3 saw him put up 120 tackles with 21 TFLs, 2 sacks, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and a PBU. He’s a small school stud who dominates the way you should if you want to separate yourself from the pack.

Edwards has been a tackling machine since he entered high school, and Friday was no different. They may have fallen short, but Edwards did everything he could. His 12 tackles led the game. He then added 2 TFLs, 1 sack, forced a fumble, and then recovered it. I like his consistency and how he’s the same player game after game.

Edwards has been a tackling machine through two years of varsity, and Week 1 of this season was no different. He’s got the build and strength you want, and he’s all over the field making stop after stop. He finished the night with 23 tackles, 17 solo, 3 TFLs, 1 forced fumble, and 1 sack. The motor never seems to slow down, and he sets the tone defensively with his consistency. It’s the kind of production you come to expect from him, and he’s showing no signs of letting up as the year gets going.

before, but he’s worth spotlighting again: the 6-foot-3, 230-pound junior linebacker had 202 tackles last season (he registered 20 catches for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns on offense too). Edwards is a great lateral mover who can dent ballcarriers and land big hits. He also has the versatility to drop back in coverage and break up passes.

Edwards is a tackling machine who has a great head on his shoulders. He’s versatile, a good athlete, especially for someone his size, is strong, can play the run, and can rush the passer. This season alone he put up 127 solo tackles and 11 TFLs. He’s well over 250 solo tackles in 2 years and with his size and physical play, could easily be a guy that blows up nationally.

Big athlete that could develop into several different positions, at 6’3″ and 240 pounds. Most likely landing spot being as a Defensive End or even inside as a Defensive Tackle. Works hard in the weight room and has considerable strength. Played his pre-high school ball as a middle linebacker rather than an end, to ensure teams couldn’t run to the opposite side of the field. Older brother (2024 ATH Eli Edwards Eli Edwards 6'4" | 215 lbs | ATH Western | 2024 State IN ) is getting recruiting attention from schools in the MAC and Ivy.

, there is no reason to believe he won’t be a recruitable player too. Playing everywhere from Tight End to Linebacker, Abe is a weight room guy who knows to to move big weight around when it is time to train. On the football field, Abe moves really well for his size. With his athletic ability, he made a home at middle linebacker, in part so teams couldn’t run away from his side of the field. However, long term, he looks to be a defensive end in our eyes. Abe seems to be showing signs of having huge upside in the future once he settles in on a position. With him being as strong and as mobile as he is, he has a chance to be one of the bigger names to come out of this class in the future.
