About Abe

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a football player. My dad is my head coach, so I have a lot thrown on my plate each week. Offensively I might play FB, TE, H, or Split End depending on the week. Wherever I play I try to be as physical as I can. Defensively I like to finish every play with extreme force. I have been coached to finish every pile whether I am the first player there or the third.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a quite laid back person. I like to keep to myself and only speak when it needs to happen. I consider myself to be a very empathetic person outside of football. I love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I bring a physical and destructive mind set to the defensive and offensive side of the ball.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am an all A honor roll student and have been named student of the month for our school corporation.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a head coaches son I have been taught to be a leader from the time I was born. I try to be a servant leader at all times. I try to put others first before seeking gratitude for myself. I try to lead by example and will be vocal only when it is necessary. Each Christmas I volunteer for our local lions club to help pack and deliver meals to needy families in our community.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, being a head coaches son is extremely challenging. Although I feel as though I work and earn all of my accolades I still receive criticism from naysayers who makes statements that I am only playing due to being the coaches kid. It can be very frustrating, but it has made me stronger and makes me want to work harder.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that first of all will prepare me for the life after football. I am also looking for a school where I can come in and contribute as a player and leader for the team.

Edwards has been a tackling machine since he entered high school, and Friday was no different. They may have fallen short, but Edwards did everything he could. His 12 tackles led the game. He then added 2 TFLs, 1 sack, forced a fumble, and then recovered it. I like his consistency and how he’s the same player game after game.
