Both teams started slow but once the Owls got rolling on offense, it was hard to slow them down. And on the other side, Weatherford's offense had a tough time moving the ball against an Elgin defense that has been simply dominant through three games this season.

Elgin would score on their third possession of the game and that would give the Owls some momentum. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='211570' first='Tres' last='Lorah'] found [player_tooltip player_id='1701962' first='Brody' last='Morrison'] on a 59-yard touchdown over the middle. Lorah found Morrison all by himself and he did the rest. Lorah would finish the game 12-21 for 227 yards and two touchdowns. But the Elgin running game is what allowed them to move the ball at will against the Weatherford defense.

Early in the second quarter, sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='472321' first='Ritson' last='Meyer'] would rumble in from a yard out to put the Owls up 13-0. Meyer would finish with 12 carries for 88 yards and two touchdowns. He also made countless plays on the defensive side of the ball. Elgin led 13-0 at halftime and the story was the defense as they gave up just 16 yards on the ground and less than 100 yards of total offense.

The Owls would add to their lead early in the third quarter when senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='449039' first='Matt' last='Lund'] scored on a 19-yard touchdown. And that's really when the floodgates opened. Lund finished the game with 116 yards on 17 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Weatherford continued to struggle offensively and Elgin linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='915638' first='Colyn' last='Donnelly'] would come up with a tackle in the end zone to force a safety halfway through the third quarter. Shortly after that, Morrison came up with an interception and then Meyer scored on their first play to put Elgin up 36-0 late in the third.

On the first play of the final quarter, Lorah threw his second touchdown of the game when he found Michael Adesola for a 45-yard score. Weatherford would avoid the shutout on the ensuing kickoff when [player_tooltip player_id='1232583' first='Nick' last='Jett'] nearly took it all the way back for six. The Eagles would punch in a short touchdown run to make it 42-7. Elgin was very impressive on Friday night and they are hopeful to keep this momentum going into a tough district, starting next week.

ELGIN'S TOP PERFORMERS
