Top pass rushers are hard to find on every level of football but when you have a guy that can get to the quarterback he makes the defensive that much better. Three weeks into the season these are the top performing pass rushers.
Juelz Baker
Juelz Baker
Baker is definitely under the radar at this point in his career. The 6’5 260 sophomore is very raw still but will keep developing. He is a long athlete that can play multiple spots on the defensive line. He has been popping up on the stat sheet each week, he has already registered 5 sacks on the season. I look for him to keep taking over games the rest of the season.
Devan Van Ness
Devan Van Ness
Van Ness is an explosive defensive end. He has an elite first step, paired with a great get off. He possess active hands and a motor that doesn’t stop. He pops on film every Barrington game I put on this year. Week three Van Ness took over the Glenbrook South game registering 5 sacks and block field goal. He is just getting started and will carry the momentum into the rest of his senior year.
Dowell is a 4 star recruit that transferred to Althoff Catholic in Belleville this off season. Dowell has been unblock-able for the crusaders all season so far, he truly is an elite talent. Dominating up front with 20 tackles and 5 sacks in just three games this year. It is no surprise why every major school in the country is getting eyes on him.
Highlights
Lawson Grier
Lawson Grier
Grier is a physical defensive lineman. I love his versatility with the ability to kick inside to play the tackle spot as well. In the run game he does a great job using his hands and getting knock back on the offensive lineman. He is great in pass rush with a good get off and quick feet. He doesn’t give up on plays giving great effort all game. This year he has already registered 3 sacks with more coming down the road.
Brock Revermann
Brock Revermann
Revermann has been a big part of the success Mater Dei has been having on defense so far this year. He has been getting after quarterbacks off the edge from his outside linebacker spot. He is a great blitzer with the ability to time the snap and beat tackles out of their stance. Much like the rest of the guys on this list he flys around and plays with a tremendous motor. He is leading his team with sacks with 4 on the year so far.
