A player I got the chance to see perform at the NYNJ Combine, Sylas proved on the field that he is a reliable, “do it all” running back coming out of Boonton. Another player that I think deserves way more recognition, Sylas has consistently put up big stats over his career. Amassing a staggering 1362 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground in 2023, Sylas dominated as the main source of yardage for the Bombers.
Sylas is dangerous in his versatility as a runner. He can lower his shoulder and fight for yardage in the trenches, but also can break into the open field with speed and outrun the competition. Boonton does a great job moving Sylas around in the backfield to give him the best opportunity to flourish. Whether he lines up as a fullback or comes across in motion from the wing, Sylas is put into position to utilize his skills to his fullest. Though Sylas is a shorter back, that doesn’t stop him from mowing defenders over. Sylas is a strong runner that is built up in his upper body, allowing him to deliver punishing hits to defenders. This is an every down back that schools should get more familiar with. Look Sylas’ direction if you want a back that can handle a large workload.

A running back I was very high on entering the 2023 season,

lived up to the expectation last fall. A talented running back coming out of Boonton, Sylas was able to rack up 1362 yards on the ground and 18 touchdowns in his junior season. With plenty of opportunities out of a run dominant offensive scheme, Sylas displayed great acceleration out of the backfield as he outran his competitors. What stands out the most for Sylas is his elusiveness and great peripheral vision. He is able to cut in and out of traffic forcing defenders to second guess where he is going, all the while being able to see the play develop in front of him. This is a back that needs much more recognition.

is one of my favorite running backs in the northern part of the state to look out for. The Boonton product has been dominant running out of an option heavy scheme, and I would be very interested to see how his skills would be applied in a spread out offense. With the current offense, Sylas has a lot of opportunities to show defenses what he is capable of. He is a very quick cutter and has the ability to rip defenders away from him. With 1118 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on the season, Sylas will continue to gain recognition this upcoming offseason.

Perhaps one of the state’s most consistent runners through three games, White has been a steady – and key – cog in Boonton’s offensive attack. Through three games White has slashed 20/121/3, 16/111/3, and 18/144/3 on the ground. Unfortunately Boonton has only been on the winning end of one of these games, but it appears White is apart of, and also trusting of, the process. It will be interesting to see if he keeps this torrid pace in week 3 against perennial power Cedar Grove.
