Here are a few standouts from the two 20-minute quarters that featured a running clock.
AIRPORT 14, PELION 7
Amari Lewis (pictured) made his presence known quickly. The junior ran for over 100 yards and scored both Eagles touchdowns. His first score came on a 9-yard trap up the middle where senior right tackle Dylan Barbrey Dylan Barbrey 6'6" | 270 lbs | OL Airport | 2024 State SC opened a huge hole. Lewis made it to the goal line then overpowered a couple of defenders to muscle his way in.
His second touchdown showed off his sprinter speed. He took a sweep around the left end, slipped a tackle attempt just past the line of scrimmage then outraced everyone for a 67-yard TD sprint.
Airport’s Jesse Hoover looked comfortable running the offense from the quarterback spot. The senior left-hander spread the ball around, but his favorite target might end up being Shiloh Perry. Fidler convinced Perry, a basketball player for Airport, to give football a try. He had a couple of catches in traffic and should get better as he gets more comfortable.

Junior Jerronn Sanders and Tucker Johnson will be a force on the Class 2A level.
