did last weekend for Somerville. The total package of an athlete, Joshua put up 219 offensive yards and 3 touchdowns. Electric off of the line, Joshua can burst from his stance as a receiver with an intense drive of the legs and immediate speed downfield. When he darts in the direction of the DB at that pace, they are caught in a position where they will have trouble getting out of their back peddle when he breaks on his route. On top of his speed, Joshua may have some of the best hands in the state. There are countless examples of Joshua bringing in the ball when it looks out of reach, and also tracking the ball over his shoulder and contorting his body to make the play.
Lining up in the wildcat, Joshua transforms into a bigger RB and runs the ball with authority. With the vision to see lanes open up, Joshua can use his quickness to bounce away from trouble and get to the second level. Joshua already has offers from Pitt, WVU, Georgia Tech, and many more, and if he keeps performing as he has, there are sure to be some big name programs reaching out.

Josh Rodriguez from Somerville had a monster performance, racking up 240 yards and three touchdowns off just four catches. His versatility in impacting the game made Josh’s performance stand out. Last year, when I watched him in person, Somerville struggled to get the ball in his hands in various ways, often relying on deep routes. But in this game, Josh showcased his complete skill set.
First, he demonstrated sharp route running and elite yards-after-catch ability, turning a slant into a touchdown. Then, he showed versatility by lining up as a Wildcat quarterback, displaying his elusiveness and speed in the open field for another score. Finally, he created separation on a deep ball, showing excellent tracking skills, which set Somerville up in scoring range.
Josh proved he’s a playmaker in every aspect of the game. He remains uncommitted and among the top broad receiver prospects in the 2025 class.

A player that I have seen on the camp circuit, live in action, and even lead a team lift, Josh Rodriguez is an ultimate competitor. All along the beat, Rodriguez has done an outstanding job of going up high for deep vertical bombs and coming down with them. He can outrun most, out leap most, make spectacular one-handed grabs, and keep his feet in bounds.
Lastly, I will share a quick anecdote about his work ethic. I was fortunate enough to be invited to a Somerville lift a few months back, where I cannot sing their praises enough. The team was straight bar shrugging and Rodriguez had about 225lbs on the bar. Calling out the reps, Rodriguez was dissatisfied with the team’s call back and commanded “we’re still at one!” They did it again. This time dissatisfied with a teammate’s rep, he called them out and demanded the group repeat the first rep. He did this about two more times throughout that set for other various infractions he noticed.
Moral of the story is that Rodriguez put the team before himself. He could have just drudged forward for the sake of him fatiguing by holding 225lbs for longer than he had to. Nope. Not this kid. Elite worker that a college will be lucky to nab.

has been on a tear since late December/early January, and his trend of picking up offers continues into the contact period. His most recent suitor comes by way of Charlotte, who extended him an offer on May 2nd. His 13th offer comes in a long line of offers that also include Boston College, Old Dominion, Towson, Marshall, UConn, Templte, Pitt, Toledo, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Old Dominion, and Monmouth. That said, I think I got them all.

Just how everyone can point out the prettiest girl in the room, Rodriguez was a stud during the showcase and everyone knew it. At the line Rodriguez had a plus release, habitually getting off the line without issue. Literally every pass I saw Rodriguez haul was a pass in which he went to high-point. This translates to him being a pure hands catcher, rather than a body catcher. I was impressed with his route running, as they were for the most part sharp and crisp; however, one thing that stood out to me about Rodriguez was the fact that he was willing to lay out for the ball if it was not the best throw. I witnessed him jump, dive, fall, and bend in order to defeat the defender and secure the catch. He is one who will fight for possession of the ball.
