There are four states on the Mt. Rushmore of football in this country: Georgia, Florida, California and of course Texas. Every football movie, TV show and talking head on sports programs talk about the culture of Texas and how intertwined football is, in every aspect. This list could have been 500 players deep if I had more time--an it might be this year. The talent in the 2027 class across the Lone Star State is the deepest of any state in the country.

Now, for the majority of the class of 2027 athletes, they will be getting their first taste of high school ball in just a number of days. Prep Redzone Next is here to help shine a light on some of the freshmen to know about in Texas this upcoming season.

Not all will play varsity right away, and some of the athletes below may have already peaked athletically in football. On the other hand, there may be (probably will be) glaring omissions from the list below–and that's the beauty of it. This is a Watchlist based off athletes we have either watched on film or seen in person during their pre-high school careers.

The only player officially ranked in every state will be who we perceive as being the top prospect in the state for the class, coming out of middle school. In Texas, that 2027 prospect is Wide Receiver, [player_tooltip player_id='404081' first='Ethan' last='Feaster']. All other players will be listed as Watchlist (WL), in alphabetical order.

That's not by coincidence, as the 6-foot-2 and 175-pound wide receiver already holds a mind-blowing 26 offers, before taking a snap of varsity football. The offers aren't from cupcake schools either, his offer list includes schools the likes of Georgia, Oregon, Michigan, Texas Au0026amp;M, Oklahoma and more. In a recruiting landscape that is increasingly trending towards early offers for athletes who may or may not pan out, Feaster looks to be about as sure of a slam dunk future 4 or 5-star, as there has ever been coming out of the middle school level.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-64d659b42093a"} /-->
