2022 cornerback JaDarian Rhym committed to the LSU Tigers this week over programs including Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, among others. Rhym has really good size and an excellent frame at 6-foot-1 170-pounds with above-average athleticism. Not only has he shown the ability to be a true cover corner on the outside, but he’s one of the more physical cornerbacks in South Georgia. Like the Valdosta program that he plays for, Rhym is tough and hard-working. He plays until the whistle and plays with a high football IQ.
The 2022 class is incredibly deep across the state at cornerback but Rhym has proved as a junior that he’s one of the best. His recruitment took off this summer after a very impressive sophomore year, and he followed it up this fall with another impactful season.
The toughness and ability to help in the run game is great, but his cover skills and instincts are what makes him one of the top cornerbacks in the South. He’s fundamentally sound, he has great footwork, and does a great job of staying his his receiver. He shows really good speed and the ability to turn and run with speedy receivers down the field. He has the length, athletic ability, toughness, and natural cover skills to make an early impact down the road for the Bayou Bengals.
Rhym wasn’t the only defender in Georgia to make his commitment this week, either. The in-state Georgia Bulldogs landed a commitment from one of the top young defensive linemen in the Atlanta area in Powder Springs native Seven Cloud Seven Cloud 6'3" | 325 lbs | DL McEachern | 2023 State GA . The interior defensive lineman from McEachern is a massive, raw lineman who has his best football ahead of him. The Bulldogs were the first major offer for the 6-foot-3 325-pounder due to his raw talent and high upside as a powerful nose guard who can hold the up in the middle of the trenches.
“I was ready and I feel like UGA will help me get to the next level,” Cloud told Prep Redzone.
Cloud is coming off a stellar sophomore season where he racked up 36 tackles, 8 TFLs, five sacks, three forced fumbles, eight QB pressures, and two blocked field goals. As an interior lineman, it’s hard to impress on the state sheet due to all the double teams they usually see, but Cloud still found a way to rack up tackles and get to the quarterback. He’s still raw and is using his size and strength to beat opposing lineman, but as he develops and transforms his body a little bit, he has the potential to be an excellent weapon on defense for the Bulldogs down the road.
