2022 Rising Stars: Linebackers in the Houston Area

Listed below are linebackers in the class of 2022 in the Harris County area who are due for big seasons next year. These players each had respectable seasons, putting up very good numbers defensively and being standouts on their team. With much experience gained this past season, these players are expected to make another jump and put their names on recruiting boards. Each have a unique style of playing but all get the job done. Everret Haven - Mayde Creek Haven is a hard hitting linebacker who leaves his mark on opponents. He is an aggressive, very physical player who has a great motor on the field. He is a linebacker who refuses to be blocked by anybody, and who takes on an opposing player without hesitation. Haven is an every down player who just does not stop until the whistle is blown. He shows fantastic closing speed on tackles and great explosion going downhill. A running backs worst nightmare in the running lane. Haven will be a valuable piece for the defense again next season and expect much growth this offseason. Hunter Warren - Cy Fair Warren is one of the most explosive players you will lay eyes on. He is a linebacker who excels at blitzes and has no issue finding the open gaps. When there is only a sliver of space, Warren will find his way through and attack the ball carrier. He shows such speed and explosion off of the ball. Opposing quarterbacks and running backs have little to no time to make a decision. Warren is a heat seeking missile who does not miss often. Unbelievable motor and no fear in his game. He is a mesh point disruptor and a player who just causes havoc in the backfield. Watching Warren play is pure enjoyment and he will be even better for next season. Gavin Wuthrich - Jersey Village Wuthrich is a tackling machine, finishing the season top five in tackles. He is a linebacker who is quick on his diagnosis of plays and rarely has false steps. When Wuthrich gets a sight of the ball, he is on a mission to take the ball carrier down. He shows very good reaction and decent lateral quickness, which he shows in chasing down screens and outside plays. Wuthrich is a secure tackler who wraps up with a purpose of not letting the opposition go. One aspect of his game that standouts out is his ability to read the offensive line and allow them to take him to the running lanes. When Wuthrich sees a pulling guard, he meets the running back in the lane before he can get blocked. Shows very good awareness which is needed from the linebacker position. Wuthrich gained much experience last season and I believe his senior senior will indeed be his best. Roy Morris - C.E. King Morris is a very quick and physical linebacker for the King defense. He shows great ability in the open space and is a hard defender to escape from. Morris is excellent in the run game, has the speed and quickness to run sideline to sideline, and possesses amazing closing speed. Morris has no fear in his game, and takes on blocks head on without hesitation. He is an unselfish player, freeing up his teammates to make plays and taking on blocks. He is a good talent who will be a major part of the teams growth for next season. He has the skills to make a name for himself and it starts this offseason. Teylen Nelson - Cypress Ranch Nelson is a name that you will continue to see. He is a quick linebacker who plays very well in space, and a player who hits with some force. Nelson played a key role on his defense last season and will be expected to do even more next season. Nelson is a player who can matchup with just about anyone out of the backfield and plays extremely comfortable in the open field. He does not miss many tackles and makes the opposition remember who hit them. Nelson has a chance to increase his stock and to put his name on the map.
