Scott’s complement to David Fennessy David Fennessy 5'11" | 210 lbs | LB Scott | 2025 State WV at inside linebacker is Ty Mitchell Ty Mitchell 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Scott | 2025 State WV who has put together a very good senior season as well for the Skyhawks.
The 6’2 215 senior has totaled 93 tackles, 13 TFLs, and 3 forced fumbles in 9 games this season as the key cog of the middle of their defense. Mitchell is a stout run-stopping MLB who is physical between the tackles and has the athleticism to shoot gaps and get consistent penetration into the backfield. He’s also shown the ability to drop into coverage at times and has quality speed and quickness that will allow him to further develop in that area. Getting downhill is the strength of Mitchell’s game right now, and he’s a throwback type of middle linebacker who should receive D2 opportunities this season.

Scott will have a great linebacker duo in Fennessy and fellow 2025 LB Ty Mitchell Ty Mitchell 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Scott | 2025 State WV who is the bigger of the two and a different style of player. He’s another well-built and physically impressive athlete who wasn’t far behind Fennessy statistically with 109 tackles and 15 TFLs as a junior. His size and build translate to a physical style of play and your classic middle linebacker type of player. Mitchell plays well between the tackles and at the line of scrimmage with the athleticism to shoot gaps and make plays in the backfield. He’s good at getting downhill at the snap but has the athleticism to play in coverage at times too and has the ranginess to play in space.
We haven’t seen any college attention from him on social media, and he is another Skyhawks that college programs in the state should be looking at heavily.

The Scott Skyhawks have a dynamic duo of linebackers with Ty Mitchell Ty Mitchell 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Scott | 2025 State WV and David Fennessy David Fennessy 5'11" | 210 lbs | LB Scott | 2025 State WV and both have impressed so far in their junior seasons. Mitchell is actually currently in our rankings as a defensive lineman but is playing at one of their middle linebackers spots this season in their 3-4 front. Mitchell is a bit bigger at 6’2 215 and has the size that you’re looking for at that position. I think he’s plenty athletic enough to play middle linebacker and he’ll be moved to that position in our rankings in the next update. Mitchell is a downhill player and very physical at the point of contact. He does a nice job hitting his gaps and is strong enough to fight off blockers if he meets them in there. Mitchell and Fennessy are one of if not the best 2025 linebacker duo in the state.
