There has been a heap of talent to come out of Ackerman, Mississippi. Shumaker is ready to be added to that number. He is a 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive lineman that has a lot of strength. Shumaker already has a 75 inch wingspan. When he learns how to use his length, he is going to be unstoppable. Shumaker is going to be a defensive tackle on the next level. He will continue to grow in height and weight. Expect to see him starting with the varsity squad this season.
Johnson has been on a tear during his camp circuit. He did a great job at the Ole Miss Camp this past weekend. Johnson was showing that he is going to be around a while. He has a good combination of strength and quickness. Johnson is going to see a lot of time playing the interior defensive line. Johnson has some varsity experience. Last season he saw some playing time as an 8th grader. He is going to be a big help to their defense this season.
Gorden has the need for speed. When he finds his hole, coaches look out. This young man can turn corners very fast. When he does, there is nobody there to catch him. He is very elusive with great hands out of the backfield. Gorden seems like he would make a great cornerback as well. He is light on his feet with good hips. Gorden changes directions quickly. His acceleration is through the roof. Gorden is going to be a problem this season. The new head coach at Ridgeland may have a scheme or two set up for this young man.
Flowers is a stud at the cornerback position. Flowers does a great job in man coverage. It isn’t hard to tell he was trained to stay on the correct shoulder of a receiver during certain routes. He loves to be physical with his opponents. He doesn’t care if they are a wide receiver or running back. Flowers also has good ball skills. When Flowers makes a tackle, he brings his body. He isn’t afraid to take a chance when he is at corner. I love the way he brings the same mechanics that he has during training to a game. Flowers is going to be a name to know from Philadelphia, Mississippi.

Michael Morris
Michael Morris
Morris is 6-foot and weighs around 170 pounds. It is still kind of early to determine what position he is going to play on the next level. Morris has good speed with long arms. He plays wide receiver and outside linebacker for his junior varsity squad. Morris could very well be an outside linebacker on the next level. He knows how to use his arms to shed blocks. Morris does a great job of setting the edge on running plays. He also has good hips that help him be useful when his team plays zone coverage. Morris won’t see much varsity time this season, but when he does, he’ll be making a lot of noise.
