There were players putting up lightning quick times in the shuttle run. Just when my jaw dropped at a time that a player finished with, another player would come along and top that one. Out of all of the prospects that stood out, I am going to talk about the quickest shuttle times by position for the defensive players. Lets find out who made the list.
Connor Mccarty Connor Mccarty 5’10” | 150 lbs | DB Kiefer | 2023 OK showed off impressive lateral quickness with his times in the shuttle run. He had the quickest time out of any defensive back, finishing with 4.53 and 4.59. The 4.53 is the quickest out of all of them and the 4.59 is the fourth quickest. That lateral quickness might be the deciding factor to come up with a big play on the football field.
Highlights
Ethan Shelton Ethan Shelton 5’9″ | 175 lbs | DB Piedmont | 2025 State OK dominated throughout the whole event. In the shuttle run, he recorded the second and third quickest times. His first attempt saw him finish with 4.57. His second attempt was slightly better, with him finishing at 4.56 It was an impressive run throughout the whole combine, in which he was the defensive back MVP.
Highlights
Gracen Gruver Gracen Gruver 6’3″ | 270 lbs | OL Moore | 2025 State OK had the quickest time for any shuttle run attempt at the event. Out of eight defensive linemen, he was the quickest with attempts of: 4.85 and then he blew that number out of the park with 4.62. The second fastest time by a defensive linemen was 4.66. It was impressive watching him perform.
Highlights
Taylor Sowers Taylor Sowers 5’10” | 175 lbs | LB Coweta | 2024 State OK was flat out impressive in this event. He had the quickest time out of any defensive player and the second quickest time overall. On his first attempt, he was electrifying with a time of 4.07. On his second attempt, it was not quite as good with a time of 4.38. That 4.38 is still extremely impressive. This kind of lateral quickness can be the difference maker on him coming away with an interception or coming up with a big tackle.
